Educational Qualification for SR Apprentice vacancies 2018:

a) Fresher Category:-

Should have passed 10th Class under 10, +2 System of education with Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics or its equivalent
4 Medical Laboratory Technician

( Radiology, Pathology, Cardiology )

Should have passed 12th Class under 10, +2 system of education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

b) Ex.ITI Category:-

4 PASAA Should have passed 10th Class under 10 +2 System of education & National Trade Certificate issued by National Council for Vocational Training in “Computer Operator and Programming Assistant”

Selection process:

The selection will be on the basis of Merit List prepared in respect of all the eligible candidates who apply against the Notification. The Merit List will be prepared by the Committee nominated for this purpose by following the procedure mentioned as under:

a) Fresher Category :- Marks obtained in Matriculation will be converted for 200 and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks duly ensuring Minimum 50% in
aggregate marks in Matriculation.

b) Ex.ITI :- Marks obtained in Matriculation will be converted to 100 marks ( duly ensuring Minimum 50% marks in aggregate) + ITI marks duly converted to 100. Total marks put together will be calculated for 200 marks and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks giving equal weight age to both.

c) MLT :- Marks obtained in Higher Secondary (with Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology) will be converted for 200 and merit list will be drawn based on the converted marks duly ensuring Minimum 50% in aggregate marks in Matriculation.

d) For SC/ST, Ex.servicemen and PWD ( PH quota) candidates the minimum percentage of 50% marks in aggregate in Matriculation is not insisted upon.

e) In case of two candidates having the same marks, the older candidate will be preferred. In case the dates of birth are also same, then the candidate who has passed
Matriculation Examination earlier will be considered.

Note: Diploma Holders/Degree holders/ Engineering Graduates/Course Completed Act Apprentices will not be considered.

Medical Standards for SR Apprentice vacancies 2018:

The Candidates should be free from evidence of any contagious or infectious disease. The candidates should not be suffering from any disease which is likely to be aggravated by training or is likely to render him/her unfit for training or to endanger the health of the public. candidates should be free from evidence of tuberculosis in any form (active or healed).

Height, Weight, Chest Measurements and vision:

a) Height : 137 cms.
b) Weight : 25.4 kgs.
c) Chest measurement : Expansion should not be less than 5 Cms
(irrespective of size of chest)
d) Vision : There should be no evidence of any morbid condition
of either eye or the lids of either eye which may be
liable to risk or aggravation or recurrence.

Selected candidates should satisfy the minimum standards of Physical Fitness as prescribed in the Apprentices Act/Rules and the standard prescribed for imparting training to the relevant trades should be certified by a Railway Doctor.

Application formalities:

a) Applications should be in the prescribed printed form only which can be downloaded from the website www.sr.indian railways.gov.in

b) A crossed Indian Postal order for Rs.100/- ( Rupees Hundred only) drawn not earlier than the date of issue of this notification (Not Refundable) drawn in favour of the WORKSHOP PERSONNEL OFFICER, CARRIAGE AND WAGON WORKS, SOUTHERN RAILWAY, PERAMBUR, CHENNAI – 600 023 and payable at CHENNAI should be enclosed along with filled in application towards Processing Fee. Applications with out the processing fee, will be summarily rejected.

b) SC/ST/PWD/Women Candidates are exempted from the payment of Processing Fee.

c) Candidates should submit only one application irrespective of the number of trades/units applied for.

d) Candidates shall apply only one category of Fresher category, Ex.ITI or MLT

How to apply for SR Apprentice jobs 2018:

a) The filled in application along with enclosures in a cover super scribed as “APPLICATION FOR ENGAGEMENT AS ACT APPRENTICE – COMBINED NOTIFICATION NO. 1/2017 /Act App / CW /PER’’ may be sent to the WORKSHOP PERSONNEL OFFICER, OFFICE OF THE CHIEF WORKSHOP MANAGER, CARRIAGE AND WAGON WORKS, SOUTHERN RAILWAY, AYANAVARAM, CHENNAI-600023 by ORDINARY POST ONLY.

b) The filled in applications should reach this office on or before 23.02.2018 by 17.00 Hrs.

c) Applications received after this date will not be entertained. Railway Administration is not responsible for Postal Delay.
